Stephanie Maxwell, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist

Stephanie Maxwell is a Registered Massage Therapist and Certified Restorative Yoga Instructor. She completed her massage therapy training at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy in 2014. She is a registered member with both the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario.

Stephanie strongly believes in the benefits of massage therapy to decrease stress, soothe sore muscles, develop one’s body awareness, and address postural imbalances. With a background in restorative yoga, Stephanie encourages a mind-body connection in her sessions. She believes the foundation to all healing lies in the induction of the “rest and digest” nervous system. Stephanie practices a client-centred approach where her clients feel supported and taken care of. Along with relaxing Swedish techniques, her treatments encompass a combination of trigger point therapy, joint mobilizations, and neuromuscular techniques.

Stephanie has extensive perinatal and breast massage experience and education. She completed an advanced training certificate through Perinatal Massage Therapy Education. Stephanie believes pre and postnatal massage to be of incredible benefit: birth parents develop a strong connection with their babies and their bodies while decreasing stress and promoting a healthy fetal environment. Stephanie is passionate about supporting families in this beautiful transitory period of new life.

Along with maintaining a thriving clinical practice, Stephanie also holds a faculty position at Sutherland-Chan. She teaches the Pregnancy Massage therapy course and is a clinical supervisor for the High Risk Pregnancy Specialty Clinic at Sunnybrook Hospital. She also teaches other courses and supervises other clinics including the Post Surgery Specialty Clinic at Toronto General Hospital.
